MTN Announces Planned Network Maintenance in Adamawa, Borno, Kano

Posted on October 22, 2025

MTN Nigeria has announced a scheduled network maintenance activity as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance service reliability and long-term network performance.

This maintenance, scheduled for 25th October 2025, builds on a previous intervention carried out in August 2025 along the same AFCOT–Bawo Village fibre route.

In this next phase, MTN Nigeria will be executing a fibre cutover on a newly relocated cable segment from AFCOT to Bawo Village.

This is a more extensive restoration aimed at eliminating previously damaged spans, reducing multiple joints, and improving optical performance and network stability.

The maintenance activity is expected to impact 101 sites across 15 Local Government Areas in Adamawa, Borno, and Kano States.

The areas are:

· Kano State: Nasarawa LGA,

· Adamawa State: Girei, Song, Mubi North, Hong, Gombi, Fufore, Mubi South, Madagali, Michika, Maiha, Chibok and Yola North LGA

· Borno State: Askira/UBA and Shani LGA

The maintenance will involve cutting traffic to a newly installed fibre infrastructure.

This upgrade is necessary to eliminate damaged fibre spans and improve overall network stability.

Due to the linear and unprotected nature of the route, services will be interrupted during the maintenance window.

Maintenance Details:

Date: Saturday, 25th October 2025

Time: 6:00 AM – 8:00 AM

Duration: 2 hours

Impact: Temporary service disruption affects 101 sites across 15 LGAs, including 2G, 3G, 4G, and 10 enterprise services.

MTN regrets any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates customers’ understanding.
