The Nigerian basketball community is excited and delirious about the rediscovered love and fervour for the game in the country.

This is hinged on the relentless efforts of the Nigeria Basketball Federation board led by Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida to reposition the game in the country, with the male and female national basketball leagues competition.

With the NBBF Premier league final 8 championship recently concluded in Lagos, and Kwara Falcons emerging winners and Nigeria’s representative next year’s BAL Championship, zonal representatives have started to emerge for the NBBF TotalEnergies Division 2 league.

President of NBBF, Engr. Musa Kida, while expressing his excitement and happiness that basketball players in Nigeria, are back in action, was unequivocal in his commitment and that of his board that Nigeria basketball is repositioned towards achieving its glaring potentials, as well as, regaining its pride of place in the basketball world.

“We’re definitely, on the way forward. With our male and female basketball leagues back in full swings, I am glad to tell you that Nigerian basketball, is set to achieve its potentials as a strong global force in the game,” Kida remarked enthusiastically.

“We’re blessed with a large pool of incredibly gifted talents. And it’s our unflinching desire to continue to lubricate the conveyor belt for our elite programmes, with these league championships, as well as, other programmes of the federation,” Kida added.

Towards beginning the NBBF TotalEnergies Division 2 league, qualifiers have been concluded in Southeast, South-South, Northeast, Northwest and North Central, while the Southwest qualifiers began in Osogbo, Osun State, Friday.

Meanwhile, Abuja is expected to host the Savannah Conference finals, and Lagos, to host the Atlantic Conference finals.
