November 6th, Dr Chidozie Nwankwo’s Date With History

The consensus in Anambra at the moment, is that Anambra needs a new kind of leader, an outlier- cerebral and pragmatic. Someone not in love with ceremoniousness and its other trappings. Anambra is in dire need of help, perhaps a rescue, and only an experienced leader who has a reputation for turning things around, should be given the mandate to take over the leadership of our state, by March of 2022. A lot of Ndi Anambra agree, that 2021 isn’t for career politicians, or loquacious employees from the private sector, who are out of job. The chorus is: 2021 should be for practical leaders with a reputation for excellence preceding them.
Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo is a man whose antecedents precede him. At the age of 25, he was already grinding out success, and had become a household name for traders in Onitsha, trading with the name Chido Ventures. Within a few years of trading, he had outclassed those before him in the glass trade, and became the major distributor of Oluwa glass in Onitsha. This is grace at work.
From scratch, through the practical experience he had in Onitsha, he was been able to found and grow the Wichtech Group, founded in 1995, to become one of Nigeria’s largest conglomerates. The Wichtech group have investments in the construction industry where it by far leads the industry with its novel roofing sheets, and 52 other items. The Wichtech Group also have visible presence in Real Estate, the oil and gas Industry and other manufacturing concerns, employing more than 4000 staff, with over 200 offices spread across the country. It is the visionary and pragmatic leadership of Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo, that made the Wichtech Group what it is today, providing excellent managerial ability to drive the company to enviable height since the last 25 years and it is the experience gained from building a conglomerate like the Wichtech Group, that he wishes to utilize in making A New Anambra possible.
Why is A New Anambra Possible? Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo believes that Anambra can be greater than it is at the moment- that our infrastructure can be expanded and improved upon. That our heath facilities and access to healthcare can be improved upon. That economic and social opportunities can be expanded and the standard of living improved upon. That we can do more for the future than we are presently doing. He believes that a new vision is needed to drive our great state progressively and that vision is what will make A New Anambra Possible.
The greatest advantage Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo has over the other aspirants, is that he is a homegrown product.
Having been born into the family of Chief and Mrs. Joseph Nwankwo of Ifite village, Oko, in Orumba North Local Government on the 12th of September 1965, he attended Central Primary School Odoakpu, Onitsha. From there, he proceeded to Comprehensive Secondary School Onitsha and later, Government Technical College ( GTC), Onitsha where he studied Building Technology and obtained Federal Craft Certificate. He went on to study Building Technology under City & Guilds London, before proceeding to Greenhills University, Denmark for a degree in Building Services. It was in Onitsha that he settled, and made the commercial capital of Anambra state his home. And the city being kind to him, gave him his first billions. This is to say, he understands the pain and problems of the Anambra business community and will solve them.
A friend remarked earlier this week, that Ndi Anambra are renowned for voting for first time candidates, and I am glad to say that this time they will repose their hope on Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo. Overdose n’Oko as called by friends and admirers, has continued to say, that he is not in the race to enrich himself as God has been gracious to him with wealth. He is in the race, because it is time to give back to the society beyond what he has been doing with his foundation, the Kingdom Care Foundation, since the past 33 years. This time, he wants to offer his leadership experience and practical approach to problem solving, to make A New Anambra Possible.
Let us not forget, the only time most Ndi Anambra agreed that government had worked, was when someone from the business community was the Governor. In 2021, an opportunity presents itself once more, for us to choose a leader from the business community. As a commercial state, Anambra needs a leader who will seek to improve business accelerators, and improve the ease of doing business. There’s no one in the contest who has the capacity to make this happen more than Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo. Lest I forget, Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo was among the first set of Nigerians to invest in a gas line, and he has promised to work assiduously to ensure a gas line gets to Anambra, to improve manufacturing, build industrial clusters and create jobs in the state.
On November 6th of 2021, we must not make a mistake but rather, for the future of our children and our state, queue behind Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo to make A New Anambra Possible.
