NYG Boxing: Team Lagos Boxers Set Up 4 Gold Medals Bouts In Wednesday’s Finals

The ongoing U-15 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State is really feeling the supremacy of Team Lagos in the pugilist sport with no fewer than four boxers from the team set to fight in the finals of their respective weight categories on Wednesday.

Interestingly, from the first bouts of the tournament, these boxers were unbeaten winning their fights with unprecedented smartness and determination which any young amateur boxer can display.

Not only that they are young athletes, but they have promising future under the tutelage of the Lagos State Sports Commission headed by Director General, Hon. Lekan Fatodu.

In the semi finals decided at the St Patrick College in Asaba on Monday, Agboola Oyindamola beat a Delta boxer, Blessing Olisa in the 40kg female category 5-0 to book her place in the final

The same scoreline goes for Bello Olamide Lawal who triumphed over his Adamawa opponent, Noble Barnabas 5-0 in the 42kg male category.

In other results, Yakubu Sofiat fighting in the 42kg female category overpowered a Team Ogun boxer, Akinyemi Omotolani in a duel that ended 4-1, while Bolarinwa Michael was too much for an Akwa Ibom pugilist, Nsidide Effiong in tbe 44kg male category. The fight ended 4-1.
