OAU Student, Cecilia Akhabueh On Cloud 9 Winning Scrabble MVP Gold, Team Silver Medal For Lagos State

The joy of any athlete participating in any tournament is to compete to have his or her name written in the medal list in such a competition.

The 21st National Sports Festival holding in Asaba Delta State is a good opportunity for Cecilia Akhabueh, a student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State to make use of her talent to put her name and that of her state, Lagos on the medal podium.

This she did excellently well which earned her two medals, a Most Valuable Player (MVP) gold medal and a silver medal in the female team event of Delta 2022 Scrabble.

“I am happy winning the MVP gold while playing with my team in the final against Bayelsa,” Akhabueh, a 100-level Mass Communications of OAU.

According to her, she won the MVP gold as the player who has the highest scores in the final, adding that the good medal is also called the Best Board medal in Scrabble.

“I think this outing was made possible with the unity in our team. We have the back of each other from the first match to the final. It was a smooth journey to the final for us,” she said.
