Of Peter Obi Pseudo Igbo Agenda And His Divisiveness

Posted on October 11, 2022

The deceit of Peter Obi’s ambition being an Igbo agenda has frequently been used by the many people, who have tried to sell the tarnished Peter Obi presidency to me. I guess a new narrative to justify the demagogue and the desperation of the Labour Party Presidential candidate.
I have simply stated the following in response to each of those narratives: Peter only cares about himself and his frantic attempt to hold onto power. Continuing to equate his self-serving desire with regional interest is absurd.
Peter’s ambitions are primarily motivated by personal vendetta and not by a common goal. He has been leading the attack on every Igbo stakeholder who is not in support of him with conscious desperation.
Peter Obi, who has continued to disparage all of our great sons and daughters, respected stakeholders, and ambassadors just for his own selfish exaltation, is the greatest enemy of the Igbos in Nigeria today.
How can he claim to be an Igbo candidate or agenda when he has yet to consult with the Igbo apex body, Ọhanaeze Ndi Igbo, or many of our respected traditional rulers and custodians of culture and beyond, who are today mostly respected in Nigeria?
We are yet to witness the pool of influential Igbo political figures surround him, join his entourage, or perhaps congregate at “Ime-Obi” to present him with an Ofo in recognition of his claims to be their candidate.
Instead, his assertions that he is an Igbo candidate or that he represents a regional agenda serve only to appease his whims and caprices.
Recently, I read Chief Olisa Metuh, one of the few Igbo stakeholders, lamenting the snobbishness and impolite behaviour of the Peter Obi supporters toward respected Igbo leaders. Peter, however, chose to remain silent and allowed his online urchins to continue defaming our elders and leaders for merely choosing to remain brief rather than publicly supporting the kindergarten Labour Party as opposed to their own original political parties. This, for every right-thinking individual, cannot be a regional agenda, but divisiveness.
In the past, we have watched as numerous prominent Igbos have used their ambition to advance national and local interests and win over their people. However, in the case of Peter Obi, we have observed that the man who frequently positions himself as the all-knowing and greatest among others, is busy attacking and denigrating his people just for the sake of his own self-interest and personal taste for power.
Who in their right minds would perceive Peter Obi’s self-serving interests, which he has convinced his credulous and vulnerable supporters, are Igbo interests, when his victims have remained his own South East brothers?
Fr. Ejike Mbaka has been the victim of blackmail, intimidation, and sensationalism in order to have him destroyed for no more than holding a dissident opinion. As a result, the Adoration Ministry—which has continued to offer job opportunities, both emotional and spiritual support to mostly Igbos across the Southeast states—is now facing difficulties and may even collapse. All for Peter Obi to advance his desperation and tainted ambition.
We have also seen how Peter Obi’s supporters have continued to denigrate Ike Ekweremadu, Emeka Ihedioha, Dave Umahi, Pius Ayim Pius, and a slew of other relevant Igbo stakeholders for simply expressing their views on national issues concerning the 2023 elections. Obviously, such cannot be the character of a man who wishes to run for office on the basis of a regional agenda when he has made his kinsmen his most victims.
Obi, or anyone else, is being rather unfortunate, hypocritical, pretentious, and cowardly when he asserts that his ambition in the Labour Party is in the best interests of Ndi-Igbo as a whole.
Peter Obi is running for office in his own right, not to advance Igbo interests. This is one truth we must drive deep into the consciousness of our people to rescue them from the lies and deceit of Peter and his cronies who are day-dreaming.
