Osun Govt Condoles With NUJ Over Death Of Pioneer Chairman

The Government of the State of Osun has received the news of the demise of veteran journalist and pioneer Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mr Lekan Awoyemi, expressing its condolences to the body of media professionals in the State.

Reacting, Funke Egbemode, Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, said”This is another painful loss, following the recent demise of some its finest media professionals”.

“Awoyemi was an experienced journalist, who displayed a high degree of commitment to the growth and development of the trade in the State of Osun.”

“He served with dignity and left an indelible mark in media practice in Osun, being instrumental to the formation of the Osun State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalist, and subsequent development of the Union.”

“The Government expresses its condolences to the family of the deceased, to the entirety of the journalism family in Osun state and in Nigeria as a whole; and prays that God grants Mr. Awoyemi’s family and friends the fortitude to bear the loss.”
