Police Smash Wanted Notorious Armed Robbery Syndicate During Operation

Police operatives from the Commissioner of Police Special Squad 2, Ikeja, Lagos, have smashed and arrested eight members of notorious wanted robbery syndicate for robbery and snatching of vehicles at gun point in the State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that their arrest was achieved following weeks of discreet and intense investigation by members of the squad, who finally arrested all eight members of two syndicates wanted for their various criminal activities in Lagos State.
The suspects were: Dayo Afolabi,27, Segun Osoyemi ,32, Toheeb Adetunji ,29, Tomiwa Okunlola, 30, Bashiru Lukmon, 22, Usman Hammed, 25, Ashiru Usman, 24 and Toheeb Oyekunle, 32.
While a few of the suspects were arrested in Lagos State, detectives trailed the rest to Iwo, Osun State and Ibadan, Oyo State, where they were eventually arrested.
The Police also recovered other items from the suspects which included one pump-action rifle, five locally-made pistols, 30 live cartridges and charms as exhibits.
The suspects were also responsible for the murder of a Police officer and stealing his rifle in Iju Ishaga area of Lagos State on December 9, 2023. The rifle has since been recovered during the first set of arrests.
This was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who hinted that the suspects were in custody undergoing interrogation over their alleged conducts.
Hundeyin stated that the suspects, who belonged to two syndicates, were arrested after weeks of discreet and intense investigation and specialised in robbing residents of the state and snatching vehicles at gunpoint.
The Police spokesman also confirmed that the suspects were also responsible for the murder of a Police officer in the Iju Ishaga area of the state on 9th December, 2023.
“The late officer’s stolen rifle was recovered during the first set of arrests including other items as exhibits in custody of the Police.”
He stated that the suspects will be charged before the Court for their alleged crimes under the Criminal Laws of the State but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
