Popular Kannywood actress, Saadatu Mohammed Inuwa, a.k.a Samha, has been sentenced to six months imprisonment in Kano State for abusing and mutilating Naira notes by using it to clean mucus from her nose.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the judgment of the Federal High Court in Kano, which found her guilty and sentenced her accordingly.
The presiding judge, Justice S.M. Shuaibu, found Samha guilty on a one-count charge under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, 2007.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Kano Zonal Directorate arrested and charged her for tampering with a N1,000 note and using the currency to clean mucus from her nose thereby mutilating the national currency.
Her arrest and arraignment stemmed from a viral social media video that showed the actress allegedly mishandling Naira notes in a disrespectful manner.
Following the circulation of the clip, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Kano Zonal Directorate arrested her on Tuesday, 3rd February, 2026.
The anti-graft agency swiftly investigated and prosecuted the matter, emphasising that such acts violate laws protecting the integrity of the Naira.
After proceedings, Justice Shuaibu found her guilty and handed down the sentence: six months in prison or an option of N200,000 fine.
The ruling highlights ongoing EFCC efforts to curb Naira abuse amid repeated incidents involving celebrities and public figures.
It is not yet ascertained if she will file the appeal to set aside the judgement.
