Real-Time Alerts, Instant Reporting: How Safety Watch App is Making Nigerian Streets Safer

Posted on August 13, 2025

The Safety Watch App is rapidly gaining ground as one of Nigeria’s most promising tools for personal and community security, offering citizens the ability to receive instant safety alerts, report crimes in real time, and protect their loved ones through live GPS tracking.

In just its first month, the app has achieved over 3,000 downloads, with 1,650 registered users actively sharing 200 crime reports and receiving 120 safety alerts.

With a 55% download-to-registration rate, Safety Watch is not only being downloaded — it’s being used and trusted.

Through the app, users are instantly notified when a security threat arises in their area, whether it’s a robbery, unrest, or other emergencies, giving them the chance to avoid danger before it strikes. Its GPS tracking feature allows families and friends to share their live locations, ensuring quick responses in critical moments and offering peace of mind when apart.

Perhaps its most impactful feature is the instant reporting tool, which enables witnesses and victims to send detailed crime reports — including photos or videos — directly through the app. This rapid information sharing allows both authorities and community members to mobilise quickly, increasing the chances of swift intervention.

With more Nigerians turning to Safety Watch for timely alerts and collaborative safety efforts, the developers are working to expand its features and strengthen partnerships with law enforcement, aiming to create a stronger, more connected network for public security.

More than just an app, Safety Watch is becoming a community movement — using technology to bring people together in the shared mission of making Nigerian streets safer.
