Renewed Hope Policies: Incandescencing And Fluorescencing The Seeming Penumbra

Posted on December 16, 2024

Over the past few months until recently, Nigerians became worrisome about what seemed inadequate on the quantum of information that went into the public space on the milestones of the Tinubu-led administration since coming on board since May 29, 2023. The frustration was ubiquitously overt and myriad in some way – palpable insecurity, luculent hunger – a corollary of years of policy somersaults in the economy and more importantly the corrupt system. However, true to his words, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR who, during one of his foreign engagements during the campaigns, promised to hit the ground running from day one did actually hit it running to stem the tide.

Dolorously, the information readily available as it were then were not adequate enough to give Nigerians that expected hope that efforts were being calculatedly and meticulously put in place to rework and retool the country for the betterment of all Nigerians. It took a man, speaking from the opposition to see the humongous efforts the numero uno was sweating to put in place to change the trajectories, redirect the country’s economy from its near-precipice and comatose and speak to them. Àbí, how does one describe the economy of a country which debt to equity ratio stood at 97:3? That was not only doleful but also droopy.

While the administration was gasping for survival in the midst of communication kwashiorkor concomitant with it, and which, ostensibly, was making it less popular and seemingly ‘anti-masses’, one man was on the other side giving Nigerians hope every now and then that the Tinubu-led government meant well and would turn around the best for the country. That man is Hon. Daniel H. Bwala. He was everywhere – mainstream and social media, giving Nigerians the much needed reassurance that there would be light at the end of the tunnel. After all, ‘ó n se omo olóòkú béèni, a ò ní sin ín pèlú òkú è’ – Nigeria would ultimately get outta the doldrums and her economic quagmires regardless.

His articulate mannerism of delivery may have earned him a place in President Tinubu’s heart. The very probable reason, in the considered opinion of the undernamed, was Mr. President’s specificity on the title of his (Bwala’s) office – Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications (State House). It was obvious Mr. President was intentional about what he wanted. He needed a voice that would resonate with his vision and at the same time resounding with the public. He would therefore alter the status quo against the endless jiggery-pokery and gamesmanship. Today, Bwala is in the mix, seated as one of the three (3) spokespersons.

Like he has repeatedly said in recent times, his approach would be different. It would be a complete paradigm shift from what Nigerians were used to. He would deploy both conventional and unconventional strategies to disseminate his job description (JD). Only recently, he was at a coffee hangout somewhere in Wuse 2, Abuja where he met with some young Nigerians and shared Mr. President’s vision for a new Nigeria with the youngsters. Quite bizarrely to this group, they shuddered at how somebody of that high calibre would deem it necessary to come lowly in addressing them. That’s the resolve – taking governance to the real people – Nigerians on the streets.

In the days ahead, Nigerians will witness Bwala take the message of the Renewed Hope of Mr. President to artisans, market men and women, road transport workers, the academic, critical stakeholders and several Nigerians of different demographies. To beam searchlight on the many efforts of the current administration, incandescencing and fluorescencing the seeming penumbra is a task that cannot be compromised. And Nigerians will witness this done the Bwala way.
