REVEALED: Dangote Needs £2bn To Own Arsenal FC

Posted on March 6, 2020

For Nigerian billionaire, Aliko Dangote, he would be needing a whopping sum of £2 billion to make his dream come true over English Premiership club, Arsenal FC.

Arsenal are currently owned by American billionaire Stan Kroenke and is one of the richest owners in the Premier League but he could be challenged by Dangote in the future with a cool sum of £2 billion.

Bob Ratcliffe, head of the football division for Ineos – owners of Ligue 1 side Nice, disclosed this in a chat with Financial Times’ Business of Football Summit.

Ratcliffe said that a takeover of Arsenal or any of the ‘top six’ clubs would cost at least £2billion.

The 62-year-old Africa’s richest man has said he will look to launch a takeover of the the club once his non-football investments are wrapped up.

Dangote is eyeing the completion of his oil refinery in Lagos sometime early next year, a process that has ultimately pushed back his ambitions of buying the Gunners.

Early January, Dangote reiterated his desire: “It’s a team that yes I would like to buy some day. But what I keep saying is we have $20 billion worth of projects and that’s what I really want to concentrate on.

“I’m trying to finish building the company and then after we finish, maybe some time in 2021 we can. I’m not buying Arsenal right now, I’m buying Arsenal when I finish all these projects, because I’m trying to take the company to the next level.”

Forbes has put Dangote’s wealth around $10.1 billion, making him the world’s 136th richest person.

Now, that Dangote has been told how much it will cost to secure a bid for one of the Premier League’s big sides, a figure some pundits believe is a “chicken feed” to the Kano-born wealthy tycoon, they all hope his bidding could be hasten and thus live her dream.
