Revealed: Glo Not Owing MTN

Posted on January 9, 2024

Facts have emerged to prove that the reports making the rounds about a phantom debt owed to MTN Nigeria by Globacom is a fallacy.

According to investigations, the story is a campaign of calumny against Nigeria’s fully indigenous telecommunications company that has redefined access to communications at all levels.

A source revealed that what was due in payment was N1.6 billion, and the said amount had been paid without any controversy, wondering where the peddlers of the fake news got their information from.

Could this have been another case of deliberate falsehood and ineptitude?

“It is either the act is deliberate or gross ineptitude on the part of the detractors, who find it difficult to do ordinary cross checking of facts. Glo does not owe MTN, not anybody,” the source said.

Nigerians have therefore, called on the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and President Bola Tinubu, to intervene and stop the witch hunting against Nigeria’s only solely owned telecommunications company.

Recall that Glo is the first telecom that introduced the pay per second form of billing, thereby cutting the monopoly of the other foreign companies operating in Nigeria.
