A woman, Abibat Salisu, may have become permanently deformed in Lagos State after a 64-year old Council revenue collector, Tairu Quadri, poured hot water on her body over payment of N200 ticket.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Mosalashi Alhaja, in the Agege area of Lagos, where Quadri went to collect revenue money.
He has been arrested and charged for causing permanent damage and assaulting the victim.
According to the Police,  the victim came to her shop in the morning when Quadri came to her to collect council revenue money.  The victim reportedly told him to come back as she had made no sales. Her response was said to have angered the suspect, Quadri and he poured hot water on her body. She was seriously injured and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where she was confirmed to have suffered permanent deformity because of the injury.
The matter was reported to the Police at Isokoko Division and the suspect, Quadri, was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct and he admitted to have poured hot water on her out of anger.
The Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor,  Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment. And the addresses of the sureties must be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
