Akanbi Omo Erinjogunola’s controversial video sermons discussing Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshilokun’s palliative scheme have not only attracted significant risks but also sparked a wave of criticism and condemnation, often orchestrated by faceless individuals. These individuals strategically employ divide-and-rule tactics, aiming to validate their agenda by accentuating the perceived shortcomings of Senator Eshilokun’s palliative initiatives.

Interestingly, these criticisms conveniently overlook the senator’s previous successful programmes, which demonstrate a consistent effort to focus solely on his current flaws. The tactics employed against Senator Eshilokun follow a recognisable pattern, utilising any available misstep to undermine and harshly critique him. Such a relentless approach serves the purpose of demarketing his efforts, and it brings about sharp condemnation from various quarters. It is crucial to ensure that these tactics do not lead to unnecessary reactions and debates, which could escalate beyond the realm of politics and cause unnecessary divisions among the public.

I will only speak on fact and reality; my question to Akanbi Omo Erinjogunola is that, has Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshilokun ever embarked on a palliative scheme that shook the whole of Lagos Island and beyond? I know of recent when there was a major palliative scheme worth multi-millions of Naira, which received widespread television coverage. Why hasn’t this been appropriately appreciated or highlighted by content video creators? Boosting awareness and documenting such impactful initiatives could help in recognising and valuing the tangible benefits brought to the community, in turn encouraging more positive actions and awareness among the masses. The so-called 75 packages were intended for elderly citizens chosen by the committee. It is crucial that individuals refrain from fostering unnecessary animosity and tension within the community, particularly in the constituency.

Senator Eshilokun exemplifies a leader who listens attentively to the needs of his constituents and prioritises the common good over personal ego. He is not afraid to spearhead community projects and provide social support, demonstrating a strong commitment to improving the lives of those he represents. Under his leadership, numerous initiatives such as economic relief programmes, grants, student scholarships, food distributions, and empowerment programmes have been successfully implemented. Moreover, he has facilitated infrastructure improvements, including the construction of roads, the provision of electricity transformers, and the installation of street lights, all aimed at enhancing the daily lives and economic prosperity of his constituency.

For WES is highly aware that achieving meaningful developmental progress can often necessitate short-term sacrifices and adjustments. Nonetheless, he remains steadfast in his dedication to these goals, consistently engaging with the community and allocating his best available resources to ensure continued positive outcomes for all. His strategic approach is designed to foster sustainable growth and a better quality of life for the people he serves.

He furthered this by initiating and facilitating numerous community and infrastructure development projects for the benefit of the Central Senatorial District. It is essential for citizens to refocus and gain a deeper understanding of the fundamental principles and responsibilities entrusted to the members of the National Assembly. These elected representatives play a crucial role in the legislative process, which includes making laws, passing bills, and initiating vital legislative proposals.

Furthermore, they are tasked with performing important oversight functions to ensure accountability and transparency within the government. Instead of prioritising requests for temporary benefits.

My advice for WES is not to be distracted by criticism. The trouble with most people is that they would rather be ruined by praise than saved by criticism.

Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshilokun is the lawmaker representing Lagos Central Senatorial District at the 10th National Assembly, and Chairman Committee on Marine Transport.
