Seye Cup: Sunny FC, Ambassador FC Tango In Quarter Final
Defending champions, Sunny Football Club will face Ambassador Football Club in the ongoing quarter final of Hon Seye Oladejo Championship taking place at Bishop Agrrey football pitch, Mushin.
To reach the quarter final stage, defending champions, Sunny FC defeated Future Stars 3-1 in the opening game of the competition sponsored by Lagos State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s match, Sunny FC Head Coach, Yomi Bature said his players are in high spirits and ready to retain the cup won last year. He said he is aware that many clubs want to beat the champions which made him to prepare his team well for the championship.
“We are battle ready for the second round match scheduled for Wednesday. All eyes on us because we are the defending champions. We don’t want to crash out early in the competition because our target is to reach the final stage and possibly retain the trophy. It is going to be a tough match because we are in avery crucial stage now and the competition is getting tougher as it progresses, “he said.
Chairman Organizing Committee, Azuka Okwubor said the competition was sponsored to engage the youth and take them away from social vices especially at a period when the political campaign had started nationwide.
He revealed that all the matches played so far had lived up to expectations and urged the remaining teams to shun violence during and after the game.
In other matches played so far, Yomaraz FC defeated Star FC 2-0,Stowe FC humbled Alpha FC 4-3 on penalty shootout after goalless draw at the regulation time.
