To the enigmatic businessman and philanthropist, Sir Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu, age is nothing but a number. But hitting 89 —a step away from becoming a nonagenarian— is not an age that anyone attains in a hurry.

For the business magnate fondly called ‘Baba Ijebu’, he counts himself among the privileged and favoured individuals when on Thursday 24 October, he clocked 89. There was a flood of thanksgiving to Almighty God from the man with multiple chieftaincy titles.

For the highly connected mogul, a treasure trove of wisdom with a zest for life and a beacon of light for everyone around him, there was a deluge of congratulatory messages, including a special message from President Bola Tinubu, among other prominent Nigerians who described Adebutu as an enigma whose contributions to the growth of the nation’s economy are highly felt.

As the day winds down, the celebration shifted to the prestigious Harbour Points in Victoria Island, Lagos where  Adebutu, the Odoole of Yorubaland hosted many of his friends, business associates and admirers to a birthday shindig.
