Something Is About To Happen To Our Local Fashion Brands

Posted on October 29, 2023

Yesterday was the climax of the Lagos Fashion Week… It ended with the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, walking the runway with some young models wearing a piece of Akwete Jacket.

This is coming few weeks after Governor Soludo walked the Anambra Fashion Expo runway wearing his signature Akwete top.

There is something about to happen to our local fashion brands in Nigeria, and I am happy that Anambra is not left out. How Governor Soludo has made a hitherto obscure fabric like Akwete gain so much ascendancy is one sure testimony that everything rests on leadership.

Seeing Governor Sanwo-Olu in this Akwete Jacket was a proud moment for me.
