IKPO IGBINOBA
Signed, sealed and delivered. With barely three days to the zonal elections, the South West chairmen of state judo associations have endorsed chairman of Oyo State Judo Association and stakeholders choice for judo’s top job, Dr. Musa Oshodi.
The endorsement ceremony took place on Saturday in the Alake Sports Centre, Ijeja in Abeokuta.
Chairman of Lagos State Judo Association, Mr. Sheriff Hammed spoke eloquently about Oshodi’s sterling qualities which he said put their colleague in pole position to clinch the Presidency of the Nigeria Judo Federation.
Mr. Hammed said Dr. Oshodi has what it takes to represent the zone creditably and assume the NJF top job after the national elections on September 30.
Every chairman at the occasion expressed similar sentiments as the Lagos judo chief.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Oshodi thanked his colleagues for their support and promised to take judo in the zone and the nation at large to a new level.
He restated his appeal to other stakeholders that all hands must be on deck if the collective dream to relaunch Nigerian judo must be achieved.
Consequently, they unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the one time vice president of the NJF.
Though Oshodi has received endorsements from other segments of the judo community, the chairmen’s is the most important.
According to the 2021 electoral guidelines, the states’ association chairmen constitute the electorate at the zonal level.
In other words, the same men, who endorsed Dr Oshodi are the men who will vote on Wednesday during the zonal elections.
