Despite being among the players dropped from the Super Eagles ahead of the friendly game against England in London on Saturday and subsequently missing out in the greatest football showpiece on earth in Russia, the FIFA World Cup finals , Uche Agbo has assured Nigerians that the team will be very formidable at the World Cup.
In an exclusive chat with PM EXPRESS in Abuja, Agbo said he has no regret over being dropped from the Super Eagles before the team departed the shores of Nigeria for the friendly game against England enroute the final camping exercise in Austria where Nigeria will play Czech Republic in their last friendly game on June 6 before heading to Russia for the football mundial.
“I don’t have any regret over being dropped from the team. I wish the team all the best and I know that the Super Eagles will be very formidable. I did all I could to fulfil my dream of playing in the World Cup, but football is like that and the coach has the final decision and it must be respected, ” Agbo said.
” I just want to keep on improving in every game in training and in matches for my club when the season resumes after the World Cup. Nigeria is blessed with so many great football talents and it is a great honour to be invited to play for your national team. I will keep improving my game as I look forward to contribute my services to the national team in the future,” he added.
Football loving Nigerians had looked forward to seeing the former Granada FC of Spain player, who now plies his trade with Standard Liege of Belgium play a part in the Super Eagles all through the period he was invited to the national team , but Gernot Rohr , the technical adviser of the Super Eagles never featured him at any of the qualifying games despite being asked to warm up during games and the same scenario repeated itself in the friendly game against Congo DR that ended 1-1 on Monday.
The former Enyimba of Aba player can feature at any line of defence aside playing as a defensive midfield most times in his club.
