SWAN Commiserates With Family, Others Over Death Of Abba Yola

The National Leadership of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has commiserated with the family of the late sports icon, Alhaji Abba Abdullahi Yola, the people of Kano state and the entire sports fraternity in the country.

In a statement signed by the Association’s Secretary-General, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, Friday, the SWAN President Mr. Isaiah Benjamin paid glowing tribute to Abba Yola who he described as a gentleman who made impacts in various spheres of life.

Alhaji Yola had served Nigeria different sporting capacities including being an Assistant Director, and Chief of Staff to former Youth and Sports Minister Sunday Dare. He was also the Chairman of Kano Pillars FC.

“Alhaji Abba Yola is fine gentleman and one who is dedicated in anything he was part of. I have always known him as a man destined for greatness and he truly achieved.

“His name and general personality are such that endeared many to him. He inspired and exude uncommon qualities of humility and kindness.

“His demise is so shocking and painful but I know that Allah is very pleased with him as his soul rests eternally in peace,” part of President Benjamin’s condolence message reads.

The remains of late Alhaji Yola is scheduled for burial immediately in line with Islamic practice.
