A 44-year old teacher, Taofeek Davis, has landed in trouble after he claimed that he lost control and mistakenly penetrated his 10-year old pupil during home lessons in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Akin Adebowale Street off Pipeline in Ijegun area of Lagos, where Davis was engaged to teach the victim.
He has been arrested and charged before the Court for defilement.
He stated before the Police that he did not know when he did it and claimed that it was a mistake. He explained that while he was teaching the girl, her legs were open and he lost control.
However, the girl raised alarm which attracted other neighbours including her parents and the matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun. He was then arrested and transferred to the SCID, Yaba, for further investigation.
The Police found him culpable after interrogation at the SCID and subsequently charged him before the Yaba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned after the prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, asked the Court to give a date and refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
