Team Lagos Set Sights On Sweeping Boxing Gold, As 8 Boxers In Final Titanic Battles

Team Lagos have once against proved as the powerhouse of Nigerian boxing with eight of their boxers qualified in various categories for finals in the ongoing Delta 2022 National Sports Festival holding in Asaba.
Lagos has always dominated boxing events in previous sports festivals and this year’s tournament will not be an exception with gold haul coming the way of the state in the pugilist trade as the finals begin on Thursday.
Oyesiji Adeola will be fighting in the female -50kg, Kareem Shukurat will fight in the female -54kg, Ojo Joy will trade punches in the -57kg, Oraekwe Blessing will fight in -70kg bout, while Idowu Mistura will also fight in -48kg.
In the men’s events, Saheed Abudllahi will fight in -67kg, Gabriel Francis in -92kg, Adefemi Adeniji in -63.5kg bout.
Meanwhile, in the badminton team event concluded Wednesday evening, Lagos won a gold medal and a bronze medal win the women’s team event. Also on Wednesday, Chess brought to the kitty of Team Lagos 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.
Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Adijat Olarinoye won three silver medals in Class 59 event of weightlifting.
