There is no gainsaying that the views of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, a renown economist and governor of Anambra State Nigeria, on leadership and development is well known, but a chronicle of his governance initiatives in over three years on the saddle in Anambra is not just timely but very much anticipated not just by development trackers and students of history, but more so, by Ndi Anambra.
It is therefore, heartening to acknowledge the efforts of Dr Anselm Onuoha, a scholar and former Local Government administrator, who has taken the gauntlet to capture Soludo’s stewardship so far, in office in a book aptly titled: *THE AUDACITY TO TRANSFORM:*
A Front Row Testimony on the Ongoing Development in Anambra by
Gov. Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s Administration.
The highlighly anticipated book set for presentation to stakeholders in Awka on October 10, 2025 is already receiving rave-reviews and commentaries.
Summary of the book, provides an in-depth analysis of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s transformation in Anambra State. It discusses key initiatives and notable achievements in infrastructure development, healthcare reform, educational advancement, security initiatives, social welfare, and the total optimization of the state software ecosystem as seen in his local government and community reforms. These reforms encompass the administration’s efforts to reorient values and drive human capacity development that bridges the gap between the poor and rich, and promotes greater integration and inclusivity across socio-economic divides.
The book offers a first-hand experience of an administration that is propositional about governance. It explores the challenges faced, the
strategies employed, offering a candid and insightful assessment of their effectiveness and the resulting impacts on the lives of Anambra residents.
While acknowledging the inherent complexities and challenges of governance in a developing state, it avoids simplistic narratives of success
or failure. Instead, the narrative focuses on the practical implementation of policy, analyzing both the achievements and the shortcomings encountered.

This is not a hagiography; rather, it is an objective and rigorous analysis that critically sets a road-map on the policies and their outcomes, aiming to provide valuable lessons for now and future governance in Nigeria and other developing countries. This analysis assesses the policies and outcomes based on key frameworks, including the governor’s manifesto, governance indicators such as transparency and accountability, economic indicators like growth and infrastructure development, social indicators including education and healthcare, and security metrics.
The intent is to offer a balanced portrayal, contextualizing the administration actions within the socio-political landscape of Anambra and the broader Nigerian context, acknowledging the external forces and constraints that invariably shape governance.
Ultimately, this book aims to stimulate further discussions on the challenges of leadership and policy implementation in a dynamic and
complex environment but more importantly to show the effect of a determined leadership and re-echo Achebe’s outcry that the problem of
Nigeria is simply – a problem of wrong leadership.
