Basic amenities are lacking, roads are in deplorable conditions, healthcare systems are failing, and unemployment is rising, but instead of addressing these pressing issues, they choose to focus on personal and political gains.
Even more worrisome is the attitude of their followers and aides, who refuse to tell them the truth. Instead of giving them honest reports about the needs and sufferings of the people, they deceive them with praises and fabricated stories of progress. This sycophantic culture has done more harm than good, as it shields politicians from reality and prevents meaningful development from taking place.
For media practitioners and concerned citizens who dare to point out these inadequacies, the punishment is swift – removal from political platforms, blacklisting, and sometimes outright attacks. The aim is to silence those who dare to speak the truth, but history has shown that truth can never be buried forever. No matter how long it takes, the people are getting wiser, and the demand for accountability is growing stronger.
As 2027 approaches and political calculations begin again next year, we must remind these politicians that leadership is about service. The electorate is watching, and those who have failed to deliver will be met with the reality of their actions at the polls. The era of blind loyalty is gradually fading, and the people will demand leaders who genuinely care about their welfare.
The bitter truth remains that governance is a responsibility, not an entitlement. Politicians who ignore their constituents today will surely face the consequences tomorrow. The people are waiting, and the clock is ticking.
