The much-beloved Ojez Elders Forum made a triumphant return on Sunday evening with a high-energy relaunch at the newly transformed Ojez Sports Lounge in the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

This special edition doubled as a farewell celebration for Ghana’s outgoing Consul General to Nigeria, Hajia Gifty Samata Bukari, and the birthday tribute to Nigeria’s award-winning highlife maestro, Sunny Neji.

The event, dripping in style and nostalgia, brought together a dazzling mix of Nigerian entertainment icons and cultural influencers.

As the sun set, Nigeria’s elite gathered, with notable appearances from stars like Segun Arinze, Paul Obazele, Alariwo, Frank Osodi, Ms. Black, and Alex O, the returning “Old School” sensation.

Members of the diplomatic corps and prominent figures in arts and culture also joined the crowd, creating an unforgettable ambiance.

The evening opened with welcoming speeches from Ojez Entertainment’s Entertainment Director, Effiong Nyong, and Peterson Agu, who set the tone with heartfelt words about the forum’s revival. Nyong hinted at a lineup of events that Ojez is ready to roll out in the coming months, sparking anticipation among the crowd.

Goodwill messages flowed as attendees celebrated Mrs. Bukari’s diplomatic contributions to fostering cultural bonds between Nigeria and Ghana. Tributes from various speakers highlighted her legacy, leaving a sense of unity and admiration in the air.

Then, the spotlight shifted to Sunny Neji’s birthday celebration. Cheers erupted as he cut the cake, surrounded by fellow artists paying tribute to his remarkable journey and dedication to the Nigerian music scene. To the crowd’s delight, Neji took to the stage, backed by the Ojez resident band, and launched into some of his most beloved hits. Nostalgia swept through the crowd, with many dancing and singing along.

Adding to the excitement, Alex O took the stage for a surprise performance, transporting the audience back in time with his memorable tunes. It was a perfect blend of homage and joy, with everyone relishing the classic vibes and high-energy atmosphere.

The night’s festivities didn’t end there, as guests enjoyed a lavish spread of food and drinks, savoring the new chapter of the Ojez Elders Forum. Chief Joseph Odobeatu, CEO of Ojez Entertainment Group, was elated by the night’s success. “I’m thrilled by the turnout and the energy tonight,” he said. “This is just the beginning; each monthly edition will be even more memorable. We’re bringing the Elders Forum back better than ever!”

The Ojez Elders Forum, a cornerstone of the city’s entertainment, had gone quiet during the COVID lockdown but is now roaring back to life. Sunday’s event was a signal to fun lovers: mark your calendars for the last Sunday of every month at Ojez Sports Lounge.
