A 27-year old thief, Ahmed Raymond, who uses substance to make victims sleep during operations has sentenced to three years imprisonment without an option of fine in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Raymond was sentenced to jail after he was arraigned before the Isolo Magistrates Court and was found guilty for stealing.

The convict’s journey to prison custody started after he went to Balogun Street, Ilasamaja area of Lagos, at night and caused the tenants living there to fall into deep sleep with an undisclosed substance.

He then entered their various rooms and carted away valuables worth thousands of Naira and escaped.

Some of the victims included Balogun Idris, Taiwo Habeeb, Abdulrasaq Kujenya, Imam Abdulrahmon Temidayo, Azzez Afolabi and others.

He allegedly stole expensive items including phones and escaped without any harassment from the victims, who were said to have been in deep sleep.

However, having successfully stolen the items, he escaped. But while on his way back to his base, he was accosted by a security guard at Itire Junction. The guard asked to know where he was coming from at that hour of the night and he was unable to explain.

He was searched and the stolen items were found with him. He was handed over to the Police at Ilasamaja Division for interrogation and there he admitted that he stole the items and mentioned the house where he stole them from.

The owners were then contacted and they were shocked that Raymon came to their various rooms and they did not wake up. It was then he revealed that his victims cannot wake up once he has come to rob them at night.

He was subsequently charged before the Court and he pleaded guilty.

The prosecutor, Oje Uagbale, asked the Court to sentence him accordingly since he pleaded guilty to serve as deterrent to others who might try such in future.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Akokhia, found him guilty as charged and sentenced him accordingly.
