As the December 2021 date for this year’s Football4girls tournament in Lagos draws nearer, the event has continued to get support from well-meaning Nigerians both at home and abroad.

One of such supports is from Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, founder of Nxtion Family, a Pentecostal Church based in London who said Nigerians should give the women football in the country a rightful place in their heart, hence his support to see to the successful organization of football4girls competition this year.

Adegboyega is known to be a lover of youths, who has a passion for the rebranding of the sports sector in Nigeria especially women football.

“Sponsorship is key to the development of sports, we all have a role to play to make Nigerian women football better than what it is now,” he said in a chat recently.

The respected man of God is coming to support women football in Nigeria at a time women’s grassroots football is suffering dearth of sponsorship in Nigeria with no corporate companies coming to its aid.

Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, a philanthropist par excellence said he would be part of the success story of the Asisat Oshoala Foundation this year.

The Football4girls project is one of many projects from the Asisat Oshoala Foundation, and the idea is for girls to come together to learn the basics of football from Asisat herself, while also reminding them of the importance of education.

The 2021 edition of football4girls event, which will be the sixth edition will hold at the new Onikan Stadium on Lagos Island. It will feature 16 teams in Nigeria. They will battle for cash prizes, while the Most Valuable Player (MVP) will head to Barcelona Academy.

This year’s event will also feature mentorship sessions for the girls, including a medical health day for the girl-child, while there will also be an all-star game, where top Nigerian celebrities will face off with Super Eagles all-stars (including some ex-internationals).

Football4girls has a success story, with five of their players currently playing in Europe, while those who don’t play football are in school studying sports-related courses.
