Two Car Snatchers Jailed 8 Years

Two car snatchers, Dala Usman, 24 and Abubakar  Garba, 21 who snatched cars and sell to Ladipo Market traders in Lagos at give away prices have been jailed, 
The Magistrate court sitting in Isolo presided by Chief Magistrate Mrs O.A Adedayo on Wednesday found them guilty and sentence them to imprisonment for four years each on the two count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The now convicts earlier pleaded guilty on the two count charge and the prosecutor,  Inspector Gabriel Ekundayo asked the court to give a short date for fact and sentence.
During the facts and sentence, Usman and Garba still admitted that they committed the crime and pleaded for leniency. They were sentenced accordingly.

However the court order that the two-count charge will run conservatively each which means they will serve four years each without an option of fine.

P.M EXPRESS had earlier reported their arrest and arraignment by police detective at Ire Akari Station led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, DSP Timothy Falowo Adeola.
They were arrested along with two Ladipo traders, Asogwa Chika, 24 and Chike Umeh, 35 who they alleged buy cars they stole from them.
Usman and Garba pleaded guilty for stealing one unregistered Honda CrossTour SUV valued at N6 million  belonging to one Lateef Ademola Giwa.
When they stole the SUV, they handed it over to Chika and Umeh to sell at a give away price between N1 million to N2 million.
However, when Umeh received the SUV, he drove and parked it in his house at 21, Mustapha Street in Isolo as they were secretly looking for buyer before the police got the information and arrested them.
Chika and Umeh pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned.
They were granted bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was further adjourned for till 7 December 2016 for trial.
