United African Methodist Church To Mark 106 Years Of Founders’ Day On 27 Nov

The United African Methodist Church Organisation (UAMC) has released programs of activities to celebrate the 106th anniversary of the founding of the church by the founders, otherwise known as the Founders’ Day

According to the Planning Committe chaired by Hon. Sesan Olanrewaju, November 27, 2023, the UAMC is celebrating its 106th anniversary of the Founders’ Day, and a series of spiritual and physical activities are planned starting Wednesday, November 15, including a press conference at the UAMC Cathedral in Ebute Metta, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

Hon Olanrewaju said: “We have prepared a series of activities that will last for 19 days starting from the day of the press conference and ending on December 3rd.

“On Friday, 17 November, there will be Praise Nights at the Diocesan Level in Lagos, Badagry and Ogun State, while on Friday 24 November, there will be a mega Praise Night at the organisation level at the Town Hall in Ikorodu, Lagos tagged “Rejoice and Give Praise.”

He said that 12-day fasting, and prayers have been set aside to hold from Thursday 16 November – Monday 27 November. Each Diocese has been mandated to organise a break of fasting online programme.

Preliminary rounds of Bible quizzes in four different categories will be held on Saturday 25 November at the Diocesan levels with the final of the quiz scheduled for Saturday 2 December at the Cathedral Headquarters, 40 John Street, Oke-Arin, Lagos by 11am.

A seminar at the Diocesan levels for the youth, women and men’s fellowships will take place on 28 November, while a workshop for the choirs and stewards will be held on 289 November.

A district/diocesan evangelization campaign will be held on November 30th, distributing personalized T-shirts and gifts for widows and orphans.

The Chairman of the Planning Committee stated that the Founders’ Day celebration will include the enthronement of the new Archbishop, the awards ceremony and a communion service and love feast which is to be held on November 27 from 11am at the Ebute Metta Church Cathedral.

“On November 27, Rt. Fr. Michael Olaitan Olajide will receive the mantle of Archbishop during the event presided over by the Primate of UAMC, His Eminence Most Rev. “Joseph Adedayo Ojaoba (JP) while exchange of pulpits at the Diocesan levels and thanksgivings in all our churches will round up the Founders’ Day celebration on 3 December,” said Hon. Olanrewaju,” Hon Olanrewaju said.

He explained that the Church enriches the lives of its members through the establishment of cooperatives, scholarships and special programs for the youth, students, senior citizens and the clergy.

The Lay President of the church, Oladapo Adeyanju Ogunlewe, said that since the inception of the UAMC on November 27, 1917, the church has continued to grow with over 100 branches in Nigeria and no fewer than 36 UAMC churches established in the Republic of Benin.
