Victor Ikpeba Football Challenge Hots Up In Warri, Quarterfinals Hold On Xmas Day

The Victor Ikpeba Football Challenge Warri 2021 on Saturday entered the quarter-finals after a total of eight matches played in the Opening Day (Friday) of the competition for Under-17 male players in the Warri area of Delta State.


After the first round of matches by all 16 participating teams, a total of 33 goals were scored with Ime Ekemini wearing jersey number 10 for Golden Albion FC of Warri striker, scoring the first hattrick of the competition. And Sarjumi Moses of Orion FC netting the first goal of the competition. With Great Avengers FC Obinna Agha Franklin showing scintillating skills helping his team to the quarter finals in the last game of the day.


The quarter finals will be played on Saturday, December 25, while the grand finale holds on Sunday Dec. 26.
The eventual champion will go home with a cash prize of N150,000, second place N100,000, third place N70,000 and fourth place N50,000.


Results of some matches played Friday at the Army Children’s Day School, Effurun, Warri: Iyara Bombers 0 v 4 Orion FC, FC Planners beat Great Boys 5-3, God’s Penal FC beat Dragons FC 3-2 on penalties after playing 2-2 draw at the end of regulations. PBI FC defeated Everlight FC 2-1, while Golden Albion motivated by Ime Ekemini walopped Lord Mark FC 4-0, with Ekemini scoring the first hattrick of the competition.

In other results: Great Stars defeated Blessed FC 3-1, Golden Friends lost 1-3 to FC Galaxy and Great Avengers beat Ichofe after exceptional performance by Avengers’ attacking midfielder, Obinna Agha Franklin, to book tickets in the quarter finals.

Quarter finals matches will be played Saturday, December 25, Xmas day starting from 12 noon, while the third place and the grand final will be played on Sunday, December 26.
