Why Do Some Persons Feel We Are Over Hyping And Exaggerating The Good Works Of Gov. Douye Diri
HON. WISDOM ONIEKPAR IKULI
Circumstances programmed Senator Douye Diri to fail from the beginning.
Besides the empty treasury that he met on assumption of office, the Global Lock down caused by Covid-19 came and caused health and more economic damages.
But in the midst of the then prevalent challenges, Almighty God was saying something great about His special servant and worthy ambassador.
Let us take a moment to look at things that Senator Diri has done differently to deserve the accolades.
1. Gov. Douye Diri successfully restored Peace and Unity among Bayelsans. He successfully eliminated enmity that was caused by political party differences.
He also killed the divisive, destructive and distractive Core Ijaw and Non-core Ijaw sentiment.
Today, Bayelsans do not identify themselves by political party or sectional identity.
Bayelsans are proud as Bayelsans.
2. He restored Hope, confidence and self-esteem of Bayelsans.
At a time Bayelsans were almost shadows of their old selves due to hunger, poverty frustration and others.
3. Gov. Douye Diri successfully curbed insecurity that was like a hydraheaded monster.
At a time, Bayelsans could not sleep with their two eyes closed because of fear of the unknown.
Cultists, armed robbers, area boys, gangsters and others unleashed unimaginable terror on the people.
But today, Bayelsa is the safest state in the country because of the top notch Community Policing strategy that the government deployed.
Many states now understudy the success story of Bayelsa State.
4. Gov. Diri stabilized the Civil Service which is the Engine of every government. Today, civil servants are treated like Kings and Queens. The above has translated to efficiency and productivity in the civil service.
