Adeyinka Adetunji, Director of Strategic Support Services of JOF Nigeria Limited, has revealed the reasons the company has been consistent in the sponsorship of the U-13 JOF Kids Cup Tournament, which enters its 6th edition this year.

Since the tournament began six years ago, the company, a wholly indigenous Nigerian company, which prides itself in the development of talent of the Nigerian youth, has been living up to expectations in ensuring that there are improvements in the organisation of the grassroots football tournament in Lagos every edition.

A media conference was held on Thursday at the corporate headquarters of JOF Nigeria Limited to unveil packages for the final ceremony of the championship which has been scheduled to be held on Sunday 27 April 2025 at the UNILAG Sports Centre in Akoka, Yaba.

It was during the press conference that Adetunji told the sporting press that JOF will continue to sponsor the kids’ tournament in order to contribute to the development of football in Nigeria.

He reiterates that the sponsorship is part of the Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) of the company aiming at developing talents within the community where it operates.

“We will not relent on our sponsorship but will continue to uplift the game of football in the country.

“Let me point out that our motive behind the sponsorship is not about monetary gains, but the need to develop the God-given talents of the kids and the development of the game,” he said.

According to Adetunji, the tournament’s cardinal points include “consistently delivering a platform for young footballers under the age of 13 to showcase their skills on a high level.

“The platform should be a beacon for nurturing young footballers in the country.

“JOF Kids Cup will be a breeding ground for future stars.

“The tournament will promote sportsmanship and leadership skills.

“U-13 JOF Kids Cup will contribute to the development of football in Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, a total sum of N1,925,000 will be won as prize monies for winners from fourth position, third place winners, second position and champions as well as individual award winners during the final ceremony.
