A 52-year old woman, Patricia Danjuma and her son, Godspower Danjuma, have been arrested in Lagos State for allegedly using a dog to torment neighbours and restrict their movement over an undisclosed disagreement in their compound.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Owodunni Street, Liasu Road, Egbe in Ikotun area of Lagos State, where they reside.
The woman and her son were said to have bought the dog and trained it on how to attack neighbours following disagreements they had in the compound. And since they bought the dog, the neighbours had not known peace.
The situation became worse when one of the neighbours, Mrs. Ngozi Okwuchukwu, had a visitor, one Osita Mbaonu, as the dog bounced on him, bit him, tore his designer suit worth over N50,000 and he was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division and the woman, Patricia and David her son were arrested.
After interrogation and having been found culpable, they were charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace by not allowing the occupants of the house to have peace. They were also charged for parading dog in the compound, which they used to inflict injury on Mbaonu and damaged his property.
When they were arraigned, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty before Court to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs K.A. Ariyo, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 17th June, 2022, for mention.
