A 64-year old man, one Mr. Joseph Ebowomen, been arrested in Lagos for reportedly turning his 16-year old daughter to a sex slave for two years.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Kilometer 47, Lekki Epe Expressway in Ajah, Lagos where they reside.
The embattled Ebowomen reportedly deflowered his daughter in 2016 when she was 14 and continued having sex with her till 2018 when the victim exposed him. It was gathered that the victim bore the trauma and found it difficult to expose her father looking at the shame it will bring to the family.
However, when she could not bear it any longer she exposed him. He was then arrested and detained at the Gender Section of the State Police Command, Lagos.
During interrogation, he was said to have initially denied until the victim was brought before him and he reportedly confessed. He then pleaded for forgiveness claiming that he was tempted by the devil to do so.
The police found his action culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates court for defilement and incest.
The prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John, informed the court that the defendant was the father of the victim and requested that the file be sent to DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, did not take his plea and bail because of the seriousness of the offence.
The court ordered him to be remanded in prison custody and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to DPP for advice.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered the offence of defilement and incest were serious and if the DPP found the defendant culpable, he will be tried at the High court. It was also gathered that he may spend the rest of his life in prison if the court found him guilty.
Meanwhile, the victim was said to have been taken to the rehabilitation centre for treatment.
