Ali Baba, Mai Atafo, Uti Nwachukwu, Others To Light Up Genesis Fashion Show 2017

Comedy giant Ali Baba, designer extraordinaire Mai Atafo and reality TV star, Uti Nwachukwu are among the fashion and style icons that will light up this year’s edition of the popular Genesis Fashion Show.

The annual fashion event, put together by the NextGen, The Teens Church of the Redeemed Christian Church of God City of David Parish, Victoria Island, Lagos, is slated to hold on Monday December 18 at the Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The organizers of the show, in its fourth edition, said this year’s edition has been tagged “Identity: Beauty In Decency” and they have promised participants a memorable experience that will leave an indelible landmark in their socio-cultural consciousness, while also create a fashion sense and decency in dressing particularly among the youths and the society at large.

Speaking in a chat with P.M.EXPRESS, Joshua Asiegbuna, one of the organisers said the fashion show has recorded a tremendous success in the last four years of its existence.

According to him, the NextGen is already achieving its purpose of starting the fashion show which was to specifically address the menace of indecent dressing among teenagers in the society while at the same time showcasing some delectable and trendy designs from some prominent designers in the country that are not revealing yet classy in nature.

Asiegbuna said they are expecting an improvement from the previous editions particularly the 2016 edition where they recorded an impressive attendance of over 1,500 participants.

They are expecting about 2500 participants this year.

A line up of activities for the 2017 GFS will include a display of exquisite designs on the runway and fashion designs Mastersclass by top designers such as Ejiro Amos-Tafiri, Tara Koko of THOD Bespoke, and Peter Adebayo among others.

The organisers have already embarked on designers’ selection/screening of designs, model casting/audition and coaching under the watchful eyes of creative expertise of Mai Atafo among other participating prominent designers.

The event as usual will also create a great avenue for budding young entrepreneurs who have flair for fashion, modelling, photography, media, videography, graphic designs among other related vocations.

The Genesis Fashion Show has been made successful, thanks to some partners and sponsors including May & Baker, Estate Links, Maldini Marbles, Studio 24, Zaron, Wisemen Apparel, Olori Supergal, Bella Naija, Mai Atafo, The Incubator, Saheeto, Nigerian Info, Inspiration FM, Cool FM among others.

The creative night will have On Air Personality Ayo Thompson as the anchor.
