Man Consumes N21,000 Worth of Beer And Pepper Soup Without Payment

A 23-year old jobless man, Daniel Isong has landed in prison after he went to a popular joint, drank some bottles of beer and pepper soup worth N21,800 without paying a dime.

The incident happened at Yaya Abatan Street in Ogba, Lagos where the joint is located.

He reportedly went in there and demanded for those items without the management doubting his ability to pay because he was properly dressed.

It was gathered that the suspect knew that he had no money with him but that did not prevent him from entering the joint to satisfy himself and attempted to escape.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect went to the joint, pretended as a customer and requested for those items which he was served as demanded.

However, trouble started when he got up to go and the attendant reminded him to pay the bill.

He replied that he was jobless and as such he cannot afford to pay the bill.

The owner of the place, Mr. Anthony Ezekwe was contacted and he reported the matter to the police at Pen Cinema Division.
Isong was arrested and taken to the police station where he told the police that he had no money to pay.

He was charged before Ogba Magistrates court for the alleged offence.

He pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. G.O. Anifowoshe granted Isong bail in the sum of N25,000 with one surety in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 15 November, 2017.
