Kunle Agboola, the producer of Idan Irawo, a popular celebrity show aired on Africa Magic, has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.
The disease, according to a statement by Mitchel Alonge, friend to the ailing producer, is at an advanced stage.
Agboola is said to have been undergoing weekly dialysis at the Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos, for some time.
“Agboola is in dire need of everyone’ support in whatever way you can. According to his medical doctors, Agboola is already at Stage 5 which is an advanced stage of chronic kidney disease and if we need to keep him alive to continue from where he stopped with life and his entertaining show, we need to support him with our finances,” said Alonge.
The dialysis has reportedly gulped all the money Agboola has and he now requires financial assistance for a kidney transplant.
“Agboola has sold all he has to keep up with his weekly dialysis. From the tests and diagnosis carried out by medical experts, he was informed that he would need about $40,800 (N14.8 million) for the cost of Kidney transplant, flight, accommodation for three people, (himself, kidney donor, and caregiver) to carry out the kidney transplant operation at Columbia Asia Hospital in India.”
Already, some of Agboola’s colleagues in the industry have started rallying round him but their effort, as it is, will be a far cry from what the ailing gentleman needs, a movie critic told P.M.EXPRESS.
Notable actress, Mercy Aigbe was said to have visited Agboola to get intimated of his present state of health.
“She paid him a visit today, recorded a video of him in his present condition for her Instagram fans and followers to come to his aid financially. Mercy has also promised to champion the cause to raise a required fund from friends, family and lovers of Nollywood films for Agboola to undergo the Kidney transplant in India,” Alonge explained.
Nollywood has suffered some loss since the beginning of this year including Olumide Bakare, Prince James Uche, Pastor Ajidara and Moji Olaiya.
