The police in Ogun State have arrested two suspects Saheed Omotosho and the receiver Adijat Azeez in connection with the hijacking of a truck load of Trophy lager beer headed to Iragbiji in Osun State at gun point.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the arrest of
the suspects followed a distress call received by the policemen attached to Sagamu Area Command that a yellow coloured truck with registration number LEW 615 XA was hijacked by three armed men while coming from Ilesa where he had gone to deliver the truck load of Trophy beer valued at Two Million, Seven Hundred and
Fourteen Thousand Naira only (N2,714,000).

However, unknown to the robbers the vehicle had a tracking device. The tracker gave the police the indication that the men were heading towards Sagamu with the truck.

Following the information gathered, the
Area Commander Sagamu, ACP Ibrahim Sa’ad Muhammad immediately put all the patrol teams around the area on red alert, to be on the lookout for the truck and the armed men.

The Anti-Robbery team of the Area
Command later intercepted the truck along the Sagamu/Ore Road where they demobilised the truck and successfully apprehended one of the robbers while the other two escaped with their arms.

The arrested suspect, Saheed Omotosho disclosed that the products in the truck had been delivered to a receiver. He was then led by the police operatives to the said receiver, Adijat Azeez at Ode-Remo where the products were recovered and the receiver promptly arrested. The suspects were detained at the police station while the truck was recovered as exhibit and parked at the police station.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police,
CP Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the suspects to be transferred to FSARS for discreet investigation with the view to hunting for the fleeing members of the gang and bring them to justice.

The CP equally implored members of the
public to promptly report any crime committed in their area to the police with the assurance that immediate police action will be taken.
