In what has been described as a public disgrace, a 36-year old single woman, Jane Okeke has been stripped naked and arrested after she was caught stealing some clothes at PEP Super Store in Isolo, Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS learnt the suspect went to a inner room provided to customers to test their selected clothes by the management before they make payment.
However, Okeke reportedly selected 11 different wears and went inside the changing room with her handbag, pretended to be trying on those clothes before she could make payment. Unknown to the management, Okeke
had another motive.
He reportedly removed her old clothes she had kept in her bag, including the clothes she worn and changed them with some of the new clothes she selected from the store, wore some she pretended wanting to buy.
However, as she made to exit the store, the security demanded to search her and it was during that exercise that the management discovered what she did.

She was stripped of those clothes she had already wore and was immediately handed over to the police by the management.

At the police station, Anambra State-born Okeke confessed that she stole and that the store’s management took back their clothes including the ones she already worn leaving her naked.
She said she was a drop-out student of Federal Polytechnics Oko, Anambra where she hails from.

She said she could not complete her programme in the school due to finance occasioned by the death of her father and had to come to Lagos to hustle to make ends meet.
Okeke was arraigned before Isolo Magistrate’s court with conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and stealing under the Criminal code.
She pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.K. Shonubi granted her bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety.
She was however remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail.
The matter was adjourned till 20 February 2017.

No Gainsaying, What She Did Was Absolutely Wrong. But Then, If U Were In Her Shoes, U Would Ve Commited More Terribly And Unbearably Than She Did. Therefore , We All Are Criminals. If Iam Wrong Justify Urself Of Been Honest, Innocent And Blameless In All Ramifications.

What She Did Is It More Severe Than Ur Secret Heartless Inhuman Wicked Act??? Plz The Did Has Been Done, this Public Disgrace Is Never The Best For A Prospective House Wife-nation Builder, Home Maker, Home Manager…….,

Its just unfortunate.Stealing is an offence between God & man but at the same time she does not need to be dehumanized. Who among us has not stolen before, against your fellow man or woman,God,ur wife,ur husband,ur mother & ur father, don’t ask me what u stole, u know it.Now the question is as guilty as u were, were u disgraced in the Public, were u striped naked before men & brethren? Let’s show mercy as we expect to be shown mercy.God have mercy on us all IJN.

    • Ice brown says:

Let dat maneger search his consienc n prove me wrong dat he has not stolen any thing from that same place b4, although what dat lady did was wrong but, striping a woman naked in public is worst than stilling it self, because it takes a heartless person 2 do dat, 2 wrongs can not make a wright he should have collected d cloth n ask her 2 go n repent.

  16. Falaju Femi says:

The magistrate should tamper justice with mercy. The girl was agreed to hustle for living. She need not remanded. She must have paid enough for her being stripped naked. May while, those responsi
bled for her nakedness are guilty of stealing from the nakedness. I pleaded she be given an administrative bail. I am not a legal expert but common sense implies that her human rights must have been abused until she is found guilty of any offence. Thanks.

  17. sirheed adewumi says:

though what she did was bad, but if an individual is being stripped naked coz of d items nt worth 40000, what should happen 2 our government? she might nt av done that is she’s financially bouyant.

  18. SULEIMA UMAR:::SUCCEED:::: says:

what she did was not good at all, but the action they took was really vexatious and this is not rights no matter how, considering the worst economic situation people are experiencing at least they should give her clothes……..police must intervene………

  23. augustine chidwra JIMBE says:

haba!!! what they did was very bad by stripping off her cloth they should tamper justice with mercy she did a wrong thing truely by stealing which is even written in the bible“thou shall not steal”.this will surely teach lessons to you and i that in every predicament, economic/financial breakdownwe shoud learn to wait on the lord for he is sure of our being on earth.no wonder the psalmist psalm 121 says“of where would my help comes from?my help commeth from the lord who made heaven and the earth.”PLS WAITH ON THE LORD.

  24. Na poverty make her fall into dat act… God her

  25. God have mercy on us because we sin every day

  26. Ochiwar says:

Stripping her neked is over enough 4 d offence, why reminding her in prison costody and demanding 4 #10,000.again? Oh! mr. Magistrate.

  27. Idemudia success says:

If Jehovah should stripped us naked bcoz of our sins, then who will go to the boutique to buy cloth? Not that what she did was wright but the people who strip her naked committed more sin than her bcos they just introduced live ponography which is bad in the eyes of Jehovah, and that can lead to more sexual harassment. Pls humans we should try to develop the heart of forgiveness

  28. Simeon Leema Menegbo says:

My worry is not that she stole or that she was stripped. Why will she steal 11 units in one operation, was she sent to close down the business? She didn’t steal out of necessity but she stole at commercial level and needed to be discouraged in very strong terms. She therefore deserve what she got because every occupation has its peculiar hazard.

  29. Well , she was push by the devil but the people who naked her was bad because what is clothes. When that person pass a way he or she did know wear cloth . May God forgive us earthly thing but the naked is enough.

  30. go to school says:

What she did was totally wrong but i don’t think stripping her naked is the proper punishment that is to be meted on her. She can be flogged, punished or locked up for some days or weeks to serve as a deterrence to others who might have the intention to steal also.
