2 Armed Robbers Sentenced To Death By Hanging For Murder

Two armed robbers, Bright Ossai and Izagwu Obodo, will be spending the rest of their lives in prison custody having been sentenced to death by hanging for robbery before the Court in Delta State. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the judgment of the Kwale High Court in Delta State presided over by Honourable Justice F. O Enenmo.

 

The Court found them guilty for armed robbery and murder and consequently convicted and sentenced them accordingly under the Criminal Laws of the State.

 

The first convict, Mr. Bright Ossai was found guilty for robbing one Hyacinth Abandy of his Denstar Motorcycle while armed with a gun at Owessi Street Kwale. He was caught on the spot when Hyacinth raised alarm, which attracted the attention of the residents.

Thus, the Police rushed to the scene to rescue the victim and recovered the gun from the him while the Police also recovered another motorcycle he had earlier robbed while armed, which he sold to to one Mr. Ebele Pius at Ossisa.

 

Both Ossai and the buyer of the motorcycle, Pius, were arrested and charged before the Court, where they faced trial for armed robbery and buying of stolen item respectively under the Criminal Laws of the State.

Two witnesses testified, while the defendants testified before the Court but did not call any witness during the trial.

The 1st defendant, Ossai, was sentenced to death by hanging while Mr. Ebele Pius bagged 10 years imprisonment with hard labour or a fine of N500, 000.
Another defendant, Izagwu Obodo, was found guilty for murder as he was alleged to have on the 21st day of August 2021, murdered one Nonso Dibia by shooting him with a gun.

The prosecution, led by C. O Onoberhie- Oberuomo, called 3 witnesses and tendered various exhibits while the defendant testified without calling any witness.

 

The Presiding Judge, Justice F. O Enenmo, in his judgement, found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to death by hanging.
