Two blood brothers, Hamza Jibrin, 27 and his younger brother, Yusuf Jibrin, 24 have been arrested and charged in Kaduna State for murder for allegedly killing a 26-year old victim, Rabiu Sani, during an armed robbery operation.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects have been charged before the Kaduna State High Court and remanded in a Correctional Center by a Kaduna High Court for alleged culpable homicide and armed robbery under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The alleged robbery incident happened on 7th November, 2024 at Airport Road in Kaduna State, where they accosted the victim, robbed and killed him during the operation.
According to the Police, the suspects and two others at large, while armed with matchete and other dangerous weapons along Airport Road, attacked and robbed the late Sani.
The robbery incident was reported to the Police operatives at the State Command, who moved into action, eventually arrested and detained them at the Command for interrogation over their alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found them culpable and consequently charged them before the Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
The Prosecutor, James Edward, informed the Court that the defendants and two others at large, while armed with matchete and other dangerous weapons along Airport Road, Kaduna, on November 7, attacked and robbed the late Sani and killed him.
He said the defendants stole the deceased’s HP laptop, two mobile phones, his wallet, which contained two ATM cards and cash sum of N30,000 and escaped before they were later arrested and charged before the Court.
Mr. Edward said that the offence is punishable under the Robbery and Firearms ( Special Provision) Act LFN, 2004.
However,  the defence counsel, Habiba Usman, pleaded with the Court to grant her clients bail and while moving her bail application, urged the Court to grant her clients bail on liberal terms, adding that the defendants would be of good behaviour and would not jump bail.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Aisha Shagari, ordered the remand of the defendants, after they pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them without an option of bail conditions.
The Court adjourned the matter till 12th December, 2024, for hearing and the defendants were remanded in custody pending when the Court will determine their bail application.
