2 Company Marketers Docked For Diverting N2.2m Goods After Sales

2 ladies employed as company marketers, Gift Effiong Francis, 21 and Nomeh Chimamanda, have landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly selling the company’s goods worth over N2.2m and diverting the money.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Ladies have been arrested and charged for the alleged conspiracy and stealing.

 

The incident happened at Oyo Plaza BBA, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State, where they were employed as marketers.

 

According to the Police, the ladies conspired and stole the money after making sales as company marketers but did not remit the money. The matter got exposed after the company embarked on an internal audit and discovered that the items were missing.

 

The matter was reported to the Trade Fair Police Division and the ladies were arrested and subsequently charged before the Ojo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Gift Effiong Francis ‘f, and Nomeh Chimamanda ‘f’, between the month of October, 2024 to 13th day of November, 2024 during the day time at Oyo Plaza BBA, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State, in the Lagos magisterial district, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

Count II: “That you, Gift Effiong Francis ‘f’ and Nomeh Chimamanda ‘f’ on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid magisterial district, being employed as marketers in Unique Blessed Enterprise did dishonestly steal and converted to your personal use the cash sum of (N2,232,000.00) Two Million Two hundred and Thirty two Thousand Naira, which you collected from customers and failed to remit same to the company account, property of Unique Blessed Enterprise, represented by one Joy Uzochukwu ‘f’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 280 and punishable under Section 287 (7), of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

They pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Uche Simeon, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J Layeni, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned till 20th December, 2024, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
