2 Men Arraigned For Being In Possession Of Burnt Vehicle Stolen From Lagos Ministry

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects were apprehended by Police operatives on 18th July, 2025, at about 0700hrs at Otedola, CMD Road, during routine monitoring operations.

The operatives from the Isheri Police Station questioned the suspects and they could not give satisfactory account of themselves. And when they presented the documents of the purchase, the Police discovered that they were forged documents.

They were taken to the station for interrogation and found culpable after rounds of questioning by the Police. They were consequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

Count I: “That you, Babatunde Abdulrasaq ‘M’, Oluwale Olajide ‘M’ and others still at large, on the 18th July 2025 at about 0700hrs at Otedola, CMD Road, Lagos State in the Ikeja magisterial district, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit having in possession of burnt vehicle and therefore, committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”

Count II: “That you, Babatunde Abdulrasaq ‘M’, Oluwale Olajide ‘M’ and one other still at large, on the same date, time, and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did have in possession of burnt vehicle suspected to be a stolen one, when questioned could not give satisfactory account of yourselves and therefore, committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 329 [a] of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”

Count III: “That you, Babatunde Abdulrasaq ‘M’, Oluwale Olajide ‘M’ and one other still at large, on the same date, time, and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did knowingly forge documents of the Ministry of Transportation in Lagos State, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 365 [a] of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”

However, they pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted them bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
