2 Men Arraigned For Stealing N10m Building Materials

Two suspects, Umeachusi Abuchi,28 and Okorie Ikechukwu,42, have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing building materials worth N10m belonging to a woman, Ijeoma Udigbo.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Okoye Street, Bucknor, Ejigbo area of Lagos State.
According to the Police, the suspects with one John Osita already charged before the Court and others at large had on 9th December, 2024, conspired and stole the items.
However, the alleged stealing got exposed and the matter was reported to the Police at Ejigbo Division. The two suspects were later arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over their alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged them before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, Umeachusi Abuchi ‘m’, Okorie Ikechukwu Agu ‘m’ with one John Osita who have already been charged to court and others at large, on the 9th day of December, 2024, at Okoye Street, Bucknor, Ejigbo, Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire together to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
Count II:” That you, Umeachusi Abuchi ‘m’ and Okorie Ikechukwu Agu ‘m’, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did dishonestly receive building materials believed to have been stolen valued Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000.00), property of one Ijeoma Udigbo ‘f’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 328 of the Criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted them bail in the sum of N2m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 25th March, 2025, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
