Man, 25, Burgles Woman’s Apartment & Carts Away N25m Property At Lekki

A 25-year old man, Precious Monday, has been arrested and charged in Lagos for allegedly bungling the apartment of a woman, Tomiwa Madu Ekwe and carting away property worth N25m. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 21st February,2026 at plot 208 block 12 beach resort Estate Lekki Lagos where the defendant invaded the stole the items.

Among the items allegedly stolen included, cloths, shoes, Gold chain worth the amount in question belonging to the complainant.

He was charged for conspiracy and stealing under the Criminal law of the State and remanded in custody over his alleged conduct against the complainant.

According to the Police,, the defendant and others now at large went to the place and broken into the apartment and carted away the items and escaped.

The complainant reported the matter to the Commissioner of the Police Tactical Squad of the State Command and the defendant was arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation over the alleged offence.

During the interrogation,  the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment if he was tried and found guilty before the Court.

The charges read:

“That you, Precious Monday ‘m’ and others still at large on the 21st day of February, 2026, 2230hrs at Plot 208, Block 12 Beach Resort Estate, Lekki Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: house breaking and stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Precious Monday ‘m’ and others now at large on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did enter the residence of one Tomiwa Madu Ekwe ‘f’ at Plot 208 Block 12 Beach Resort Estate, Lekki Lagos, with the intent to commit felony and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section a)(b)(c)(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

COUNT  III: “That you, Precious Monday, ‘m’ and others now at large on the same date, and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did steal clothes, shoes, gold chain, total valued Twenty five million Naira (N25,000,000.00) property of one Madu Ekwe ‘m’ and thereby commit an offence contrary to Section 280(a)(b) punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
