2 Men Caught Inside Cemetery While Removing Human Skull For Ritual Purposes

Police operatives from the Ayobo Division of the Lagos State Command have arrested two suspected ritualists for allegedly breaking into a grave inside the cemetery to steal human skulls. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Atan Cemetery located at mechanic village, Ayobo area of Lagos.

 

The suspects, Fatai Adisa, 35 and Azeez Adisa, went to the cemetery in the early hours of the morning to remove the parts but they were caught and handed over to the Police.

 

They were consequently charged before Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conspiracy,  conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and stealing under the Criminal Laws of the State.

 

According to the Police, the suspects broke the grave with the intent to remove human remains buried inside it. And while they were escaping with the skull, they were accosted by the security guards, who then contacted the Police at Ayobo Division. They were arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over their alleged conduct.

 

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found them culpable because they admitted to have done so and claimed that they wanted to use it for an undisclosed ritual purposes. They were then charged before the Court for the alleged offence.

 

They pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

 

 

The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, granted them bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned till 13th September, 2024, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
