2 Men Docked For Using Minors As Robbers To Steal For Them

Police operatives from the Isheri Oshun Division of the Lagos State Command have arrested two men, Dapo Folorunsho, 63 and a 50-year old Akinola Showumi, for allegedly sending minors for steal for them. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 24th June, 2023, at Sunday Onaoba Street, Kudeyibu Estate, Ijegun area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspects allegedly sent the minors to a woman’s house, Esther Niniowo and stole two generators, cooking gas, pumping machine, standing and ceiling fans, electrical appliances and among others worth N700, 000.
Having burgled the victim’s house and carted away the items, they escaped. But the information leaked and the minors were apprehended. When they were confronted, they mentioned the suspects to have sent them to steal from the woman and that they had handed over the loot to them.
The matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division;  the suspects were arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the alleged criminal conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found them culpable and subsequently charged them before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and stealing.
They pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K.A. Ariyo, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
