2 Women Arraigned For Pouring Hot Water On Another Woman During Public Brawl

Two women, Moturaye Oyebanji, 38 and Idowu Sanusi, 38, have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly beating another woman, Adeyemo Princess and pouring hot water on her body during a public brawl.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 16th October, 2024, at Shittu Thompson Street, Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos State, where they reside.
The cause of the fight between the suspects and the victim was not disclosed by the Police, which got to the extent of beating, stabbing and pouring hot water on her. The victim sustained injuries and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
According to the Police, the suspects conspired and assaulted the victim, stabbed and poured the hot water on her thereby endangering her life due to the injury she sustained.
The matter was reported to the Police and they were arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation over their alleged conduct.
The charges read:
“That you, Moturaye Oyebanji ‘f’, and Idowu Sanusi ‘f’ on the 16th of October, 2024 at about 0900hrs at No. 12, Shittu Thompson Street, Iju-Ishaga, Lagos State, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspired together to commit felony to wit, assult occasioning harm and conduct likely to cause the breach of peace and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT 11:” That you, Moturayo Oyebanji ‘f’ and one other at large, on the same date, time and place and aforementioned Magisterial district, did unlawfuly assault one Adeyemo Princess ‘f by beating her up with fist blows and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 171 (1) (2) (c) and 172, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT III:” That you, Moturayo Oyebanji and the other person now at large, on the same date, time and place the aforementioned Magisterial district, did unlawful assault one Adeyemo Princess ‘f and endangered her life by pouring hot water on her body and thereby committed and offence punishable under Section 173 Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT IV:”That you, Moturayo Oyebanji ‘f and one other now at large on the same date, time and place and aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully assault, one Adeyemo princess ‘f by stabbing her on right leg with a dangerous weapon that cause her body harm and open injury with serious pains all over her body and thereby committed an offence punishable to Section 173, criminal law of Lagos State 2025.”
However, they pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned before the Ogba Magistrate Court.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted them bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
