20-Year Old Suspected Female Armed Robber Arrested During Operation

The operatives from the Commissioner of Police’s Strike Squad of the Lagos State Command have arrested a 20-year old suspected female armed robber during an operation on the highway.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Gift Akwueze, was arrested with a kitchen knife at Makunwen Road in Ikoyi, Lagos, where she alongside other suspects now at large were robbing innocent victims of their valuables at night.

Some of the victims included Temiloluwa Elizabeth and Babajide Oluwatosin, whom she robbed their iPhone Pro-max worth about N650,000 with the force of arms during the operation. 

However, she ran out of luck when the information got to the Police, who immediately moved into action and arrested her while her other accomplice escaped. 

She was detained at the State Police Command for interrogation and the knife, which she used during operation, was recovered as exhibit.

During interrogation, she reportedly confessed and mentioned her accomplices who are at large. 
She was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for armed robbery. 

When she was arraigned, the Court did not take her plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Mr. Adejumola Olasunkanmi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice. 
The Presiding Magistrate ordered her remanded in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice without an option of bail.

The matter was adjourned pending when the outcome of the DPP’s report, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction. 

Meanwhile, the Police were said to have started manhunt for her accomplices, who escaped during the operation in the area on the day the incident happened on 25th May, 2022.
